Direct-To-Camera Shot In Front Of Family’s Shuttered Small Business
Hazleton, PA –Today, Jim Bognet, a GOP contender for Pennsylvania’s 8thcongressional district, became the first candidate to launch a sustained television ad with a :30 second ad called, “Make China Pay.”
The spot features Bognet straight-to-camera standing in front of his family’s empty construction company yard that has been shuttered due to COVID-19. Bognet says, “The Chinese lied to us. They tried to cover up coronavirus. When I’m your Congressman we’ll make China pay for the lies they told, the jobs they stole, and the lives we’ve lost.”

The ad will be a five-figure cable buy beginning Wednesday, April 15, 2020 in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton media market. The spot will also run on select digital platforms.
“While we grieve the lives lost, care for the sick, and develop treatments, we must not lose sight of who is responsible for this deadly epidemic spreading across the world,” said Bognet. “The Chinese Communists lied to the whole world, and the results have been deadly to America. When I’m in Congress, we will make China pay.”
Bognet, a former Trump administration official, recently announced he raised more than $275,000 during the first quarter of 2020, the most of any GOP candidate so far in the six-person field. One of the other candidates, Earl Granville, came under scrutiny when anti-Trump posts from 2019 emerged on social media referring to supporters of the President as “Trump-Tards.”
The primary date is June 2, 2020.
